Current word count: 1500 words
Time until story is due: Nine days.

This is going to be the roughest rough draft to end all rough drafts. It's going to be a log with the bark still on on its way to the lumber factory.

But I've got the entire weekend from eight tomorrow night to ten Monday morning to write another, er, 13500 words. Or more, hopefully, all things considered. I bought Pepsi and Cheetos today, so I'll be all stocked up for writer food.

Oh, man, I am SUCH a glutton for punishment. I should just skip this writing thing and spend the entire weekend whacking myself in the face with an oar instead. I'll probably feel the same way when Monday rolls around either way. *sigh*

EDIT: Just out of curiosity, show of hands -- who's at the same level I'm at but still trying to finish in time for the deadline? It's always nice to know you're not the only nut.

Rinse, lather, repeat until I have to go back to work on Monday.

It's a system that worked for me the one time I managed to write 10k in a day. I've only watched a couple of episodes of TVD in their entirety and bits and bobs here and there, and I've been meaning to catch up with the series for a while now. (I don't have much of a desire to join the fandom anytime soon, though. You guys are all great, thank God, but for some reason I just seem to keep stumbling onto the worst sorts of snide back-patting "MY show is so much better than YOUR show" Vampire Diaries fans every time I stumble outside of ye olde friends list. At least you guys are awesome. *hugs*)

I was really worried about not getting any of my novel work done this weekend, but in all honesty I haven't gotten much novel work done in a while because I've been so blocked. This could be just the thing to grease the chute and get my brain back in gear again.

-- As soon as I'm done typing this I'm going to go see if I can bang out a thousand words or so before bed on my Big Bang. Here's hoping, anyway.

-- Aw, poor OLTL, their ratings are at an all-time low since they dropped Kyle and Oliver. Hey, look at the bright side, OLTL. You fired all the good actors with the interesting storylines, but at least you can still afford to keep Edward Scissorhands around to cut Gigi's hair.

-- Okay, so how do I make money on the internet? Preferably not without writing things for the moment -- I'm still wading out of a serious bout of writer's block, so my creative skills aren't exactly as dependable as I'd like right now. Surveys and stuff ... that, I can handle.

-- I almost forgot to add this: Jezebel analyzes the stealth feminist message in Just One Of The Guys. I love that movie SO MUCH. It's one of my favorite cheesy '80s movies. There's some seriously bad acting going on in there, but there really is some deeper thought underneath the occasionally questionable dialogue. (That said, I also loved Teen Witch, in which there was never anything approaching thought, but an astounding amount of cheese.)

-- Oh, and also there's this:
