Okay, so the school speech in "Whale Rider" joins the last half-hour of "The Color Purple" and the scene where Liam Neeson breaks down in "Schindler's List" on the short list of movie sequences guaranteed to make me blubber like an infant.

Notice how I specified "movie sequences," since I have been known to cry over "In Memorium" Oscar reels, disgustingly adorable Beanie Babies, and the occasional Pepsi commercial.

Mine's the last seven minutes or so of "City Lights." I cry big, loud, stupid tears when I see that movie.

"Life is Beautiful" made me cry harder than I've ever cried in my life for an hour straight. You know those huge, unbelievable, wracking sobs you see in movies? That's what I did.

Oh, I know 'em. I'll do 'em, too. I used to do them IN theaters, except now I manage to keep myself under some semblance of control...

I'll watch "Life is Beautiful" if you'll watch "City Lights." *g* Chaplin is the TCM star of the month in Feb and I know they're going to show it...

Gaaaaaah, that scene made me lose it, too. *wibble*

You so know that's going to be her Oscar clip, too. Bah ... another reason for the Oscars to make me weep. (Although if she were to win, it'd be advantageous, what with me already crying and all.)

Gah! You mentioned two of my biggest tear-jerker moments (Whale Rider and Schindler's List, because for some unknown reason I still haven't watched The Color Purple). Another movie sequence that always brings me to tears is the "Oh captain my captain!" scene at the end of Dead Poets Society.

Don't mind me now, I'll just be over in my corner sniffling.

Dude, rent "The Color Purple"! And buy Kleenex! I lose it about a half an hour from the end. The great big singalong ... gah. I need to buy that DVD.

I knew I was bad off in the crying department when Entertainment Weekly posted that 50 Greatest Tearjerkers article and I cried reading the list.

I'll definitely check it out, I've been meaning to for a long time but I just keep forgetting about it - my family owns a video store, so I get kind of overwhelmed with movies at times ;)

And I didn't see that E.T. article but I'm sure I would have been in the same condition, I get way too involved in movies sometimes!

And I know I'm a big old dork for this, but the last 45 minutes of "Return of the King" openly sobbing into my mom's shoulder.

(To further embarrass myself with geekiness, I also cried at the end of "Star Trek: Generations" when Kirk died. But I don't cry quite as easily now as I did then.)

Ooooooo ... "Go home, Sam"? If I had known that breakdown was coming, fuck tissues ... I would have been sobbing into a towel.

Then again, if not crying, I was damn close to tears from start to finish.

And ... um ... I cry when Simba's daddy dies. And also when Bambie's mother gets shot, when Dumbo's mother gets committed, when Nemo's mom gets eaten, and every time I realize how many times Walt Disney has ripped the tears straight from my ducts by orphaning the overly adorable.

Hmph. I think I'm glad he's a Creamsicle.

EVERY Pixar movie from Toy Story 2 onwards has made me cry. In TS2 it's Jessie's song. In Monsters Inc. it's Sully saying goodbye to Boo. And in Finding Nemo it's the scene when Marlin thinks Nemo is dead and Dory is begging him not to leave her.

*sniiiiiiff*

I love being a big old softie. :)

YES. Pixar likes to make me bawl. They do it all the time. Dory telling Marlin not to leave? *sniffle*

And it's not just Disney. Did you ever see "Iron Giant"? The ending of that one killed me.

Ohh yeah, that made me wail too. And I don't even like the movie that much. O_o

You too? I'm terribly terribly lame. I can't even read In Memorium sections in magazines anymore without tearing up. Its rather pitiful.

Don't think I've ever cried over a pepsi commercial though. But I'm quite sure I've cried over things equally embarassing.

The last movie I cried at? Big Fish I was bawling throuth the whole last scene.

My crying criteria is somewhat odd at times (I cried in Mulan), but Whale Rider, oh, I hear ya. *sniffs*

I cried in the Pokemon episode where Squirtle leaves to join the other squirtles.
