Halle Berry only agreed to star in the second X-Men sequel after studio bosses agreed to give her a bigger role in the forthcoming movie. The Oscar-winner was reluctant to reprise her role as Storm in X-Men 3 - but producer Lauren Shuler convinced her by boosting her character's involvement. Schuler says, "I love working with her. We would only write a huge role for her, so she's right in that respect. We would make sure that would happen." Hugh Jackman, Rebecca Romijn-Stamos and Famke Janssen are also expected to reprise their roles in film, set to begin shooting next year.

Ugh. I suppose pointing out to the producers that they could have spent that extra time and money on Gambit or Colossus or Beast and made the audience infinitely happier would just go right over their heads.

EDIT: You know how they have those DVD players that'll just edit out objectionable material for children? They should have DVD players that do that for adult movie lovers. So if I want to push a button and replace Halle Berry with a better Storm or force Kevin Costner to speak with an English accent or entirely negate Sylvester Stallone from existence, I have that option.

As I mentioned in someone else's journal, they could get a better actress and a better Storm with Thandie Newton. For much less money and drama. I suspect they'll ratchet up the Storm-Nighcrawler angle, which is a good thing, because I loves me some Nightcrawler.
It's been a million years since I've read the Dark Phoenix saga, but I don't seem to remember Wolverine as being an integral part of the story. At least nothing they couldn't give to Cyclops.
They will have to throw a hell of a lot of money at Jackman to get him back.

Good morning!

I think I read somewhere it was in his contract to do X2 and another sequel, and considering the way his films have been turning out at the box office, I can see him sprinting back to the set with bad hair firmly attached. (The boy's sweet, but h's got horrible taste in scripts.)

I can see them laying off the Wolverine angle a bit, since they used him so much in the first two movies, but for more Storm? Ick. I'd rather have them focus on anybody else but her for two hours. Hell, let's go to the fast food joint where Toad's probably working and watch him make chicken sandwiches for two hours. Sheesh.

And good morning to you! *waves*

If I could see any angle focused on it would be the Mystique-Magneto one; as Romjin and Sir Ian seem to be having one hell of a good time with it.
Please God, anyone but Toad.

I'd love to see The Beast and Colossus. Especially Pitor, as they did a great job with him in his little cameo in X2. And well, Hank is Hank :>

Exactly! They don't even have to make him big and blue and hairy although that'd be a plus. Just give him onscreen buddy chemistry with Shawn Ashmore and send them both on Twinkie runs and suddenly I notice I've been reading waaaaaay too much fanfic. :)

*butts in* I heard that Our Boy Hugh (we Aussies are mighty possessive) is getting quite a pay rise for the next film... $13million and a cut of the profits. As a result, the people at 20th Century Fox are demanding that the film is yet another Wolverine-based one. Interestingly enough, I've heard for some time that James Marsden is fed up with how little time Scooter's been getting, and was promised prior to this that the third film would be about Cyclops (the only reason he's kept coming back). Which is what the Phoenix saga is about.

Why, oh why, couldn't Halle have stayed away?

See, I can handle a X-Men movie with more Wolverine, and I like James Marsden as Scott, so they can take up all the time in the next movie they want. But Halle ... urgh.

I too love me some Nightcrawler. But sadly, so far I haven't seen Alan Cumming's name bandied about as an actor who's signed for the sequel...

While I am merely speaking out of conjecture and past movies, I would think that when they signed him for X2, they would have, as a matter of habit, at least signed him for 1, if possibly not 2 sequels.

If they didn't they'd better have a REAL GOOD excuse :>
