Halle Berry only agreed to star in the second X-Men sequel after studio bosses agreed to give her a bigger role in the forthcoming movie. The Oscar-winner was reluctant to reprise her role as Storm in X-Men 3 - but producer Lauren Shuler convinced her by boosting her character's involvement. Schuler says, "I love working with her. We would only write a huge role for her, so she's right in that respect. We would make sure that would happen." Hugh Jackman, Rebecca Romijn-Stamos and Famke Janssen are also expected to reprise their roles in film, set to begin shooting next year.

Ugh. I suppose pointing out to the producers that they could have spent that extra time and money on Gambit or Colossus or Beast and made the audience infinitely happier would just go right over their heads.

EDIT: You know how they have those DVD players that'll just edit out objectionable material for children? They should have DVD players that do that for adult movie lovers. So if I want to push a button and replace Halle Berry with a better Storm or force Kevin Costner to speak with an English accent or entirely negate Sylvester Stallone from existence, I have that option.

i am so sick of halle berry ruining my favorate comics.
X-men is an ensemble piece, and storm is one of the background characters. I have been saying for years that it should have been Angela Bassett.
Grrrrrr.

As I mentioned in someone else's journal, they could get a better actress and a better Storm with Thandie Newton. For much less money and drama. I suspect they'll ratchet up the Storm-Nighcrawler angle, which is a good thing, because I loves me some Nightcrawler.
It's been a million years since I've read the Dark Phoenix saga, but I don't seem to remember Wolverine as being an integral part of the story. At least nothing they couldn't give to Cyclops.
They will have to throw a hell of a lot of money at Jackman to get him back.

Good morning!

I didn't hate Storm before the first movie, but I didn't particularly like her, either. (It was all the loud, overly dramatic speechifying she did while using her powers. Urgh.)

When Halle Berry got signed to play, I was willing to give her a (small) chance, but then she fucked it up with that crappy accent and the bad wig and ... blech. Seriously, I could have had much more fun if they'd given the kids all uniforms in the next movie and ... hell, I don't know, signed Storm up for the Peace Corps against her will or something.

I think I read somewhere it was in his contract to do X2 and another sequel, and considering the way his films have been turning out at the box office, I can see him sprinting back to the set with bad hair firmly attached. (The boy's sweet, but h's got horrible taste in scripts.)

I can see them laying off the Wolverine angle a bit, since they used him so much in the first two movies, but for more Storm? Ick. I'd rather have them focus on anybody else but her for two hours. Hell, let's go to the fast food joint where Toad's probably working and watch him make chicken sandwiches for two hours. Sheesh.

And good morning to you! *waves*

So now the Phoenix saga is going to be about Storm and Wolverine, instead of Scott? Gee, thanks for the respect to comic fans *head-desk*

Colossus has been in cameos in the first two films, so we might have a chance of that one... but Gambit and Beast seem unlikely. I think that Angel would have a better chance of getting on-screen. Plus, since Anna Paquin probably isn't going to be in X3 and Bryan Singer isn't going to re-cast any roles, my primary reason for Gambit to show up is already gone ;)

If I could see any angle focused on it would be the Mystique-Magneto one; as Romjin and Sir Ian seem to be having one hell of a good time with it.
Please God, anyone but Toad.

I'd love to see The Beast and Colossus. Especially Pitor, as they did a great job with him in his little cameo in X2. And well, Hank is Hank :>

*hands you the X-Men cast member of your choice to snuggle with*

I've decided that as long as I get my Iceman, my Wolverine, my Cyclops, and at least one shot of Colossus and Jubilee each, I won't have to take out a hit on the producers. But I reserve the right to take a bathroom break whenever Miss Oscar Winner Extraordinaire starts ACTING.

I still think Anna Paquin and Ian McKellan should take her out back and smack some sense into her. For the honor of the Academy and its winners and nominees, of course. *nods solemnly*

I could have sworn I read an article that said Anna and Shawn Ashmore were the only two actors who were officially signed for the third movie. (God, I hope so.)

I would be so much happier if they just killed Storm off in a freak accident while buttering toast and the next thing you knew, Remy was on the front steps. (Regardless of whether or not Rogue was in residence. Because if they're going to fuck with canon, I'd appreciate it if they started with the angstfest that was Remy/Rogue.)

*butts in* I heard that Our Boy Hugh (we Aussies are mighty possessive) is getting quite a pay rise for the next film... $13million and a cut of the profits. As a result, the people at 20th Century Fox are demanding that the film is yet another Wolverine-based one. Interestingly enough, I've heard for some time that James Marsden is fed up with how little time Scooter's been getting, and was promised prior to this that the third film would be about Cyclops (the only reason he's kept coming back). Which is what the Phoenix saga is about.

Why, oh why, couldn't Halle have stayed away?

*points to icon* I'm a Wolverine/Rogue 'shippah, so I can handle them skipping the angst-fest (even if I also have a Remy/Rogue icon *g*). And I've heard several things from either side of the "has she or hasn't she signed on" thing, so I'm just waiting for the official announcement now. I've given up on the rumour mill until then.

The only name that I've seen continuously in relation with X3 is Shawn Ashmore, so he's really the only one I'm even kind of certain on.

And well, Hank is Hank

Exactly! They don't even have to make him big and blue and hairy although that'd be a plus. Just give him onscreen buddy chemistry with Shawn Ashmore and send them both on Twinkie runs and suddenly I notice I've been reading waaaaaay too much fanfic. :)

I heard a rumor a while back that Berry was whining so much about screen time they were thinking about making a Storm Movie. That just makes me hurt inside.

See, I can handle a X-Men movie with more Wolverine, and I like James Marsden as Scott, so they can take up all the time in the next movie they want. But Halle ... urgh.

Well, they already gave her a Catwoman movie, and look how that's turning out. :)

Since Iceman is my favorite character in the X-Men movies (well, along with Jubilee, of course, but like they'd ever give her actual lines *eye roll*), I can live in some semblance of sanity knowing Shawn's signed up. :)

Given that X-Men isn't AtS and they can't keep cutting out all the female roles, it would have been interesting if both Anna and Halle didn't return, simply in that they'd have to add chicks to the line-up. And since Shadowcat and Jubilee are the only two we've seen to the point of identification already, they would have been the logical choices for addition. So maybe you should start praying that Anna isn't coming back ;)

I wasn't going to see that anyway. Saw some pictures the other day, I think the costuming is among the worst I've ever seen. Definitely not going to see that.

When I went to the movies to see Van Helsing, they played the newest trailer, complete with a nice full-body shot of the crappy costume, before the movie. I note the fact that the entire audience laughed derisively at the entire trailer and especially at the costume with interest, as I was starting to think the viewing public had no taste. Apparently, they have just enough taste not to watch Catwoman.

There are no words in any language to express how sick and fucking tired I am of Halle Berry's bullshit. It's like she's on a one woman mission to ruin my childhood. If she ends up in a movie based on a Neil Gaiman and/or Alan Moore book I will be forced to kill myself.

In my dream universe Bryan Singer is at his desk right now writing Storm out of the script in a fit of vindictive glee. *prays*

I want a DVD player that will replace crap like the Hugh Jackman hacker movie with something infinitely more entertaining, such as old G.I.Joe episodes.
