This website is my new best friend. With the exception of that Tripod thingy that pops up every time I do something on there, but blergh.

Lookie! *points* Someone did a "Poseidon Adventure" musical! I think I'm in love. *swoon*

I read this comment...

Then I had a terrible thought...

http://www.the-pantheon.com/poseidon.htm

Looking at the children of Poseidon, and knowing the TrollPrincess, her kid would become the demigod of disaster. But would be REALLY snarky.

Not that bad an idea, actually... *ponders*

If you get Fox Movie Channel on cable, they have a really cool documentary about "Poseidon Adventure" fandom which includes long clips from the musical. It looks hilarious! They also have a faux documentary about the discovery of the wreckage (ala the Titanic)and a funny homemade version of the movie that this man did all by himself (playing all the parts).

I cannot look at the tripod sites anymore in the browser on my laptop. The thing that pops up covers the screen and won't let me at anything.

And disturbingly, once featured a link that said 'free nude child pics!'

tripod worries me.

Well, if you really want to see those sites, here's a solution:

1) Download and install Mozilla Firefox (http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/). IIRC, pop-up blocking is on by default, though it doesn't stops those particular ones.

2) Using Firefox, go to the Firefox's Extensions (http://texturizer.net/firefox/extensions/) page and install AdBlock (http://texturizer.net/firefox/extensions/#adblock) (and whatever else strikes your fancy. Tabbrowser extension, All-in-one gestures and Flashblock are popular choices).

3) Stop and restart Firefox after installing the extension(s) (they usually warn you that it's required). There should be an "AdBlock" item on the left of the status bar (bottom of the window). Click on it, and type http://*/RealMedia/ads/* in the "New Filter" area.

4) Browse with Firefox. You shouldn't have any more problems seeing the contents of the sites, at least until they change their advertising method. And new filters are easy to add anyway.

You're welcome, even though I didn't really help :-) I'm so used to problems to be IE-related that it didn't even occurred to me it wasn't what you were using.

naw. I use Avant. Which is usually pretty good and tripod's the only thing that's given me twitchiness so far.

Poseidon! The Upside-Down Musical played the NY Fringe Festival a year or two ago, and nobody liked it.

I think I love the concept more than the actual musical itself. Now I'm going to be imagining the points at which disaster film characters would burst into song if they could every time I watch one.
